The Fenice table by Zanotta is one of the most extraordinary milestones in the history of Italian design. Originally designed in 1936 by Piero Bottoni, Fenice is widely recognized as the first modern pedestal table, a groundbreaking project that anticipated by more than twenty years a design solution that would later become a defining element of contemporary furniture.
For the 2016 edition of the Salone del Mobile, Zanotta faithfully reconstructed and brought Fenice back into production using the original drawings preserved at the Politecnico di Milano and made available through the Bottoni Archive.
Fenice is far more than a dining table. It is a piece of design history, a masterpiece that combines innovation, architectural vision and cultural significance in an object that remains remarkably contemporary nearly a century after its creation.
Its sculptural central base, generous proportions and distinctive cement-resin finish create a powerful architectural presence capable of transforming any interior into a sophisticated and memorable space.

A Masterpiece Ahead of Its Time
When Piero Bottoni designed Fenice in 1936, he introduced a radically innovative concept compared to the traditional dining tables of the era. The central pedestal allowed greater freedom of movement and a completely new relationship between furniture and living space.
This visionary approach would only become widespread decades later, making Fenice one of the most forward-thinking furniture designs of the twentieth century.
Today, the table retains all of its expressive power. Its essential geometry, architectural presence and sophisticated materiality make it perfectly suited to contemporary interiors while preserving its historical significance.
