The Officina chair represents a structural masterpiece. The idea of working with an ancient production method is the basis of the collaboration between Magis and Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec. This new creative language applied to the Officina collection has made it possible to create forged iron structures with unique shapes that support seat shells and table tops or give life to various accessories, such as mirrors or candelabras.

The charm of an ancestral raw material such as hand-forged iron, alive and imperfect, combined with absolute simplicity, makes each piece of this collection unique with an unmistakably industrial flavor but with a deeply refined and elegant spirit.

The structure is in forged iron, hot-dip galvanized or cataphoresis treated and painted polyester while the seat and backrest are in standard injection-molded polypropylene loaded with fiberglass (suitable for outdoors).

Also available in polypropylene covered in full-grain leather or fabric (Kvadrat “Divina Mélange” and “Divina MD”).

Dimensions: L. 58 cm - D. 54 cm - H. 46/80 cm

Design: Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec

Ronan Bouroullec (born 1971) and Erwan Bouroullec (born 1976) have been working together for about ten years. Their collaboration is an ongoing dialogue, nourished by their distinct personalities and a shared notion of diligence, with the intent of achieving greater balance and sophistication.

In 1997 they presented their Disintegrated Kitchen at the Salon du Meuble in Paris, where it was noticed by Giulio Cappellini, who gave them their first industrial design commissions. The Bouroullecs have collaborated with Magis since 2004, designing two complete furniture collections – Striped and Steelwood – as well as additional projects such as the Pila chair, the Pilo table, the Central and Tambour tables and this year the new Officina collection.

Today Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec design for numerous manufacturers, including Vitra, Kvadrat, Magis, Kartell, Established and Sons, Ligne Roset, Axor, Alessi, Issey Miyake, Cappellini, Mattiazzi, Flos, Mutina, Hay and more recently Glas Italy and Ittala. They also continue to carry out their own experimental work which is essential to the development of their work at Galerie kreo, Paris, where four exhibitions of their projects were held between 2001 and 2012. They also undertake occasional architectural projects.
