Rubber, steel or cement umbrella bases
The Moia Greenwood umbrella base collection is engineered to offer maximum structural stability, static safety, and anchoring versatility for every type of umbrella, whether central pole or offset arm. Developed based on thirty years of experience in the outdoor living sector, these ballasts are made with high-density compounds and ultra-resistant materials such as structural steel, vibrated concrete, and washed marble chips. Thanks to a diversified range of weights, geometries, and integrated reduction systems, Moia bases adapt to the millimeter to fit shafts of any thickness, ensuring perfect aerodynamics and impeccable protection against gusts of wind.

Moia bases use high-density compounds to ensure maximum specific weight in the smallest possible volume. The marble granite variants offer a classic, mineral-washed aesthetic, while the concrete versions feature an industrial protective coating. This seals the porosity of the material.
Use and Maintenance: Clean the bases periodically using a stiff-bristled brush, fresh water, and a neutral detergent to remove dirt, moss, or environmental deposits. Avoid using high-pressure cleaners or aggressive acids (such as muriatic acid), which could corrode the surface finish. During the winter months, it is recommended to store the bases in a dry place or cover them to protect them from severe frost, which could cause micro-cracks.
The support tubes (Ø 55 mm or Ø 65 mm, specify in the order notes) are made of treated or galvanized steel, anchored to the stone using solid square plates tightened with 4 perimeter screws. The double locking system (double knob) ensures that the umbrella pole does not wobble or rotate in the wind.
Use and Maintenance: Periodically check the tightness of the 4 screws on the base plate. To ensure the smooth operation of the locking knobs and prevent the threads from seizing when exposed to humidity and rain, apply a thin layer of marine grease or silicone lubricant spray to the inside of the tube threads twice a season.
How do I choose the correct base weight for my umbrella?
The choice depends on the size of the umbrella's dome and the diameter of its shaft. For small balcony umbrellas (up to 2 meters) or tables with a central hole, a 25 kg or 30 kg base is sufficient. For 3x3 meter or 3x4 meter central-pole umbrellas in normal breeze conditions, a ballast of no less than 35 kg or 50 kg is recommended. For professional structures, commercial HO.RE.CA. umbrellas, or models displayed in highly windy areas (attics, seafront), the use of 75 kg bases or the coupling of multiple base plates is strongly recommended.
What does the "specify in order notes" mean for Ø 55 mm or Ø 65 mm tubes?
It means that the 50 kg models (both concrete and grit) and 60 kg models are modular and can be factory-fitted with two shafts of different diameters. Before completing your purchase, you must measure the diameter of your umbrella's pole: if the pole is less than 48 mm in diameter, the 55 mm diameter tube (with reducers) is the ideal choice; if you have an umbrella with a larger pole (e.g., 50 mm or larger), you must request the 65 mm diameter tube to accommodate the pole.
Can the 30 kg steel plate base rust or damage the patio floor?
No. The Moia steel plate undergoes an industrial oven-baked epoxy powder coating in anthracite, waterproofing the metal and permanently protecting it from oxidation caused by standing water. Furthermore, the flat 60 x 60 cm profile distributes the weight evenly; For ultra-delicate flooring (such as polished marble or wooden decking), we recommend applying technical rubber pads under the corners of the tile to avoid micro-rubbing during positioning.
