The Terramare armchair with its enveloping and wide seat is perfect for furnishing terraces and verandas but also interior spaces. The characterizing element of the entire collection is the die-cast aluminum joint, a strong detail evocative of the rattan trunk joint system. Strong and resistant, it is not afraid of exposure to atmospheric agents. The combination of materials that characterize it is original and innovative: painted aluminum structure, backrest in eco-leather with vintage finish, colored and water-repellent cushions.
Info & Materials
Aluminium
Aluminum alloys, particularly suitable for cold working and die casting, appropriately treated to resist atmospheric agents and powder coated.
USE AND MAINTENANCE
To keep the product in good condition for a long time, we recommend correct periodic cleaning, particularly frequent in locations characterized by high humidity and a marine climate. It is recommended to clean the surfaces with a soft cloth using water or neutral detergents. Prolonged and uninterrupted exposure to intense UV radiation or very cold temperatures can affect the initial characteristics of the colored aesthetic covering made of polyester. We recommend cleaning and storing the products in sheltered places during periods of prolonged disuse and in winter.
Cushions: All fabrics may show slightly different shades as they come from different production batches or have different exposure to light. This aspect should not be considered a defect but a characteristic of the product. EMU uses the most advanced technologies in the textile sector to create outdoor furniture. The materials are resistant to splashes of water, UV rays, salt and sweat, without losing their structural and comfort characteristics.
It is advisable, after the rain, to dry the furnishings with fabrics in order to prevent the formation of damp stains and mould. To improve the longevity of the products, EMU recommends storing them, in the event of prolonged periods of non-use (e.g. autumn/winter) or incessant rain, in a closed, ventilated and dry place, covering them with sheets to keep them at their best and protect them from dust and dirt. Before storing them, make sure they are perfectly dry.
The covers/coverings are recommended for outdoor use but for short periods. The covers are not to be considered an alternative to winter storage of the products. In case of rain, always check that no humidity forms between the lining and the products in order to prevent any mold as, as the fabrics are textile products, the presence of residual humidity is possible and can cause mould.
All materials meet the most rigorous quality standards for outdoor use and the fabrics are quick-drying and easy to maintain. Avoid prolonged contact with greasy and/or coloring substances which could be absorbed by the covering material and give rise to permanent stains, as well as deteriorating the structure of the yarn. If used near the sea or swimming pools, periodic washing is recommended. Frequent washing: follow the specific instructions for each material shown on the appropriate label. Use water and non-abrasive liquid detergents with neutral PH and colorless. If necessary, leave the detergent to act for a few minutes. Rinse thoroughly with water at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. If using pressure devices, keep the tip of the diffuser at a distance of at least 60/70 cm from the surface of the product. If necessary repeat the operation. Do not use abrasive sponges to remove stains and do not treat with bleach or chlorine.
It is the passion for objects understood in their sense of industrial product, the glue of the professional partnership between Alfredo Chiaramonte and Marco Marin, founding partners in 1989 of the homonymous Designstudio. The professional interest ranges across numerous sectors (interior, graphic, industrial, lighting) and makes possible the permeation of experiences and knowledge accumulated over these years, creating a contamination between different fields, a fundamental humus to make the soil of ideas fertile.
Here, for example, is how the multi-year collaboration with glass companies on the island of Murano has made it possible to short-circuit two apparently different sectors, creating a line of blown glass objects and glasses produced by Nason Moretti for Emu Group, leading companies respectively in the production of Murano glassware and garden furniture.
Alfredo Chiaramonte was born in Bologna in 1961, he studied at the Faculty of Architecture of Venice. Marco Marin was born in Venice in 1964 where he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts specializing in industrial design.
They have collaborated with well-known companies in the furniture and publishing sector including Miniforms, Emu Group, Bonaldo, Vistosi, Nason Moretti, Andromeda International, Hoffman Italia, Renault Italia, Moulinex, Artificia, Gemina publishing group.
They carried out a period of teaching at the European Center for the conservation of the architectural heritage of Venice.
In these over the years they have received various awards and some of their works have been exhibited in permanent collections and international museums including the Correr museum in Venice, the Beauburg in Paris, the MOMA in S. Francisco, the Venice Biennale collaborating on a project by Yoko Honor.
