The Proust armchair by Magis is an icon of contemporary design born from a poetic and ironic reinterpretation by Alessandro Mendini. With its baroque and theatrical style, reinterpreted through the use of polyethylene, Proust combines the strength of color with the lightness of the material, giving life to a piece of furniture capable of surprising and captivating. Available in vibrant monochrome shades and a multicolored version, it is a seat that immediately becomes the protagonist of any space. Perfect for large, dramatic interiors, it is equally suited to enriching gardens, terraces, and outdoor contract spaces, thanks to its durability and versatility.

Technical characteristics

  • Polyethylene structure, also suitable for outdoor use
  • Dimensions: L 104 × D 90 × H 105 cm

Design: Alessandro Mendini
Alessandro Mendini (1931–2019) was an architect, designer, and artist, one of the most important figures in international design. After his early career in architecture and as editor of magazines such as Casabella, Modo, and Domus, in the 1970s he took part in the radical design movement and Studio Alchimia, pioneering a language that combined art, design, and cultural references. In 1989, he founded Atelier Mendini with his brother Francesco, creating architecture, objects, and installations in several countries. His works are featured in the permanent collections of major museums around the world, and his work with Magis has helped define new icons of contemporary design. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards, including three Compasso d'Oro Awards and the European Prize for Architecture.
