Designer:Karim Rashid

Karim Rashid was born in 1960 in Cairo. As a young man he moved to Canada, where in 1982 he graduated in Industrial Design at Carleton University in Ottawa. He continued his design studies in Italy, in Naples with Ettore Sottsass and in Milan at Rodolfo Bonetto's Industrial Design studio. Having returned to Canada, he collaborated with KAN Industrial Designers in Toronto and, at the same time, founded Babel Inc. and North Studio (1985-91).

All of Karim Rashid's works are exhibited in the most famous museums in the world, including: the modern art museums of San Francisco and New York and the Center Georges Pompidour in Paris.

In 2001, he published a book entitled “I want to change the world” (translated into I want to change the world), which represents the manifesto of what is for him the new beauty and the presentation of the world, seen as a bubble.

Karim Rashid is defined as a design dandy, design popstar, father of plastic and new age visionary. His art aims to revolutionize the world and give more importance to each person, seen individually.

Today Karim Rashid represents one of the most famous designers with his works that tend towards futurism. All his works are aimed towards a better future that desires an improvement of the human race and also of society. Karim's commitment is oriented in this sense and even today he is engaged in the battle to make the world a more beautiful place, at least from an aesthetic point of view.
