Designed by the Milan studio AMeBE for SELETTI, the Cupolone transforms from an architectural icon of the Italian Renaissance into pop lighting! Made of resin, the Cupolone suspension reproduces the iconic dome of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome in an ultra-realistic way. This creation transports us to the heart of the Eternal City, the complex structure reproduces with extreme precision the architectural details of the dome of St. Peter: the tambour with columns, the ribs, the windows with pediments... On the border between art and design, Cupolone refers in the past tense with humor. Focused on memory and the collective imagination, this project is a representation of timeless canons. This small-scale architecture contains fragments of the past, is full of history and aesthetic suggestions.

designer: The AMeBE, Alessandra Mantovani (1983) and Eleonora Barbareschi (1984), after various work and training experiences outside, choose to return to Italy in July 2008 thus starting their independent studio. Together they deal with design and communication, alternating more conventional work with the creation of independent projects.
“AMeBE”, an acronym of their names, is inspired by the amoeba, a very fascinating organism characterized by continuous evolution, whose term derives from ancient Greek and means "change, transformation".
