Designers: Samuel Wilkinson

Samuel Wilkinson founded his own industrial design studio at the end of 2007 and a year later, in 2008, Wilkinson completed his greatest creation, the co-design of L'arbre de Flonville in Lausanne, Switzerland. The installation marked the start of a series of large-scale projects as part of a redevelopment project of an old industrial area in the Le Flon district. The work consists of a contemporary city square, with a 16 meter high metal sculptural tree, surrounded by a series of benches shaped as if they were roots, which rest on a red rubber floor. His recent design of the Plumen 001 light bulb and 'Vessel Series' hand-blown glass lamps for Decode London have earned Samuel international acclaim. Plumen 001 won the important "2011 Design of the Year" award from the London Design Museum, as well as the coveted 'Black pencil' from the D&AD. The studio's work diversifies across a variety of disciplines, from consumer products to the public sector. Samuel Wilkinson's commitment and enthusiasm in designing captivating objects and spaces that arouse interest is evident in each of his creations, always seeking an original and dynamic approach, both in form and function.
